18January 2009, Sunday Service Notes

yesterday, Pastor Tan Ye Peng talked about PRAYER. everyone is talking about the importance of prayer and i feel its the best language i ever learnt. woa he has so many points to take down till i could barely rest while taking down all the notes!!

the main points of the surmon...
he emphasized that prayer is just like food to our human body, its food to our spiritual being... Pastor Tan also spent quite a fair bit on the fusion of 2 realms. us, humans.

everything you do in the natural world have spiritual consequences.

God is everywhere, he is omnipresent.

1 Corinthians 10:31
...WHATEVER YOU DO, do all to the glory of God

we should live our life in a way we know

Our life is preparation for eternity.
God has put eternity in us.

Love is not love till it is expressed aww man i so love this phrase. sounds so poetic! hehe

God created man on the sixth day after he created everything.

whatever we see God is doing, we should follow him.
we need to get into partnership with him through faith.
you cannot earn your salvation as jesus is the only sacrificial lamb.

its all about surrendering and trusting in God

HOW SHOULD WE PRAY?
1. Be open to hear God in your prayers

2. Be specific in your prayers

3. Be persistent in your prayers.

PRAYER IS THE KEY TO EVERYTHING
Luke 11:9-13

*the full notes are at the bottom of the post. pardon my untidy handwriting, was using a wrong pen. X.x

after thinking back, i feel that prayer has helped me to bridge up the gap between me and God, its a matter of how often and how strongly we pray together, be it pray with teachers, pray with friends... i remeber i used to pray in school every friday after school with my good friends, but i have not been doing so after leaving the school... but at least i get to go to cell group despite my tight schedule!

last time it was so little obligations, too much time so i got bored. now, the tables have turned. i have too much obligations and too little time! after sitting down and thinking deeper, everyone has the same amount of time, everyone goes through the same phases of life, the world is fair in some aspects. its more of how we manage our time. i feel that we need to learn to prioritise, but the big stones in the pail first before filling it up with sand. this way, we get to achieve more and make more sense of our valuable lives as well as our priceless friendships we have.

its more of whether we appreciate what we have more than to envy others.

Do not compare yourself with others for that causes you to feel as though God had not rewarded you fully...but actually he has, for he loves us all equally.

11 January 2009, Sunday Service Notes

last sunday, which was a whopping few days back, uh Rev. John Bevere gave a surmon on HONOUR'S REWARD.

the reason why i am posting this super late, when usually i do it on the following day right after service is because of my schedule. super packed up plus i need to decide on my tertiary education. its really stressful even though i didnt score that badly in my O levels....
managed to score 11 points for L1R4, A2 for english meant that i had quite a good chance to go into a normal poly, not all those outstanding ones or whatsoever.

i would also like to praise God as he blessed us with our grades and that i always keep in mind that he has greater things in us, so i have to rely on him during this gruelling period as he chooses my next education. seriously i do not want to go JC.... i wanna go poly..... dont ask me why privately. ask only when we are with a group of friends... main purporse is that i am too itred of repeating and explaining.

ok time to get back down to earth and here are the main points of last sunday's surmon.
there is quite a big load of main points...even though they are main points....

the main verse was Mark6:5
the bible said "HE COULD DO NO mighty work there...."
Jesus was restrained. Why?
Mark6:3-4 said that He needed honour.

Most of the time God gives the stuff we want in a package that we do not expect.

Honour means 'a valueing'
Dishonour means 'to treat as common'

All true honour originates from the heart

There are three categories of people whom we should look up to.
1. Those above us. eg: the prophet
2. our peers. eg: colleagues
3. those under us. eg: those who are entrusted under our care

we need to honour all.

Four areas of delegated people
1. Civil
2. Family
3. Social
4. Church
5. Our peers (seriously i dont know why there is a fifth one when there should be only four?)

end of the day message?
WE NEED TO HONOUR OTHERS!!

below is the surmon notes that i copied down! refer it for more in dept information.
ps reminder again, just in case you didnt see chris' post. there IS CELL GROUP THIS SATURDAY AT NICOLE'S HOUSE, 1.30PM be there early!

4 January 2009, Sunday Service Notes

oh yeah one thing i noticed is that the pictures of the notes are really small, so if you want to see the notes, you can use firefox web brower instead of the Internet Explorer, then download the add-on that allows you to expand pics to like over 200-600%. that will make reading the notes more convenient.

ok in case you cant read or just pure lazy to change the browser and go through all the stuffs, here is the main frame of yesterday's message by Senior Pastor Kong Hee.

The Strength in City Harvest Lies in....
1. Education
2. Creativity
3. Character

and we had this yellow year planner that informed us about whats coming up in year 2009.

5 Goals in Every Christain Life
1. Prayer
2. Ministry
3. Evangelism
4. Fellowship
5. Discipleship

A cell group allows these five goals to be achieved consistently.

Relationships determines your...

1. Happiness
2. Success
3. Character

Pastor Kong also stated that he is going to share more of the couples and relationships stuff for the upcoming months and weekend services.

please be informed there will be NO CELL GROUP AGAIN for the upcoming Saturday, so see you guys in church on Sunday!
